Prof. Dr. Julia Arlinghaus is Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation and holds the Chair of Production Systems and Automation at the University of Magdeburg. She previously held Germany's first Chair of Management of Industry 4.0 at RWTH Aachen University. After studying business engineering, she earned her doctorate at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, in 2011. She then worked as a consultant at Porsche Consulting. In 2013 she took up a professorship at Jacobs University in Bremen for the Optimization of Networks in Production and Logistics. Together with her team, she carries out research for and with companies into individual, sustainable solutions for efficient factory operation and for the sustainable and robust design of global value chains. Since 2021 she has been a member of the Council of Science and Humanities – the most important scientific advisory body to the German Federal Government.
Prof. Dr. Lutz H. Gade has held the chair of inorganic chemistry at the University of Heidelberg since 2003. After defending his doctorate at the University of Cambridge, he completed his habilitation in 1996 at the University of Würzburg and two years later accepted a professorship at the Université Louis-Pasteur in Strasbourg. In Heidelberg he has acted inter alia as Dean of combined Faculties of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and was Chairman of the collaborative research centre (SFB 623) on molecular catalysis. Prof. Gade is currently the chairman of the collaborative research center (SFB 1249) on N-heteropolycycles as functional materials which he initiated. His work has gained him manifold recognition both nationally and internationally. He is a member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz.
