The Daimler and Benz Foundation is promoting a special event format in order to establish a dialog of trust between science and the general public. The “Innovative Science Communication” call for proposals from early 2023 was won by the Senckenberg Natural History Collections in Dresden. With funding amounting to around 30,000 euros, a five-part series of open-air events is to be launched – pop-up research stations on the topic of bio- and geodiversity. This funding instrument will enable scientific findings to be communicated to a broad public, and people from various age groups will be addressed. Mounted on cargo e-bikes, the mobile stations will be on the move in the Dresden area and reach people right where they are. Interested participants will be able to spontaneously experience the interrelationships of bio- and geodiversity, whether it be on the Elb meadows, in front of the Semper Opera House, or on the river Prießnitz. The project is expected to be implemented in the course of the coming year.
