Science Communication

The dialogue between science and the public is becoming increasingly important. As recent developments around the world show, there is often a lack of understanding regarding scientific fundamentals. Some segments of the population are skeptical of scientific findings and sometimes reject them entirely. From the perspective of the Daimler and Benz Foundation, however, it is precisely this personal contact between scientists and interested laypeople that can serve as an indispensable element in intensifying the discourse – and thereby one’s own knowledge – on current issues based on scientific findings. Only a trusting dialogue between science and society can contribute to a society that is both free and has a future worth living.

The Daimler and Benz Foundation is providing funding for the planning and implementation of one or more innovative events on the topic of “science communication,” with a total grant of up to 30,000 euros. Eligible applicants include employees at scientific institutions as well as nonprofit companies or organizations in the fields of science, education, culture, and business in Germany.
