Prof. Dr. Oliver Bendel appointed to the Board of Trustees

The business information scientist and ethicist Prof. Dr. Oliver Bendel is now a member of the Board of Trustees. He currently carries out research and teaches at the Northwestern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Basel, Olten, and Brugg-Windisch. He had previously worked for example at the Institute for Information Management at the University of St. Gallen and the Institute for Educational Media at the Bern University of Teacher Education.

Bendel’s chief interest lies in the philosophy of technology. He investigates the relationship between humans or animals and machines, asking in particular what the machines of the future will and should be like. His major disciplines include the ethics of information, machines, and robotics. The Daimler and Benz Foundation takes pleasure in welcoming Bendel, a scientist with a wealth of interdisciplinary and international expertise, to its Board of Trustees.
